Leeds based alt-atmospheric-indie newcomers release their Fraser Smith produced debut single
Having all met at Leeds University in 2007 these four exceptionally gifted musicians are set to release their debut single in the form of a strictly limited edition vinyl entitled “Slow Start”; a soon-to-be anthem that infuses the indie sensibilities of Elbow with the epic-soundscapes of Mew, rounded off with vibrant Buckley-esque vocal melodies.
Since their inception Sketches - whose line up includes Luke Rogers (guitars & vocals), Matt Hutt (guitars & vocals), James McBrien (bass) and John Arkell (drums) - have spent 18 months honing their material whilst extensively touring the UK in support of the likes of Manchester Orchestra, Captain and Make Model, winning admiration from fellow musicians, fans and industry alike - made evident by radio support from the likes of Tom Robinson, Fearne Cotton and Ian Baker as well as making the top ten in a nationwide competition; ‘Red Stripe Awards’.
2009 sees Sketches hitting the studio with former Shed Seven member Fraser Smith whose recent producing credits include works for such luminaries as Ian Brown and newcomers Winterkids to record their debut single ‘Slow Start’ and B-side ‘Fevered Foals’ which is due for release via Wakefields super cool indie club and boutique label Louder Than Bombs Records.
The band recently hit the road for an extensive UK tour in support to the inncredible US alt-rockers The Thermals.
