Peachy Jane
Peachy Jane formed in early 2006 originally with Simon Kang on bass, Graham Brown (drums), Vicky (vocals), and Rebecca Fludgate (guitar), and Daniel Kietzman (lead guitar).
The band started gigging and recording material that summer with their first gig being at the Thomas Tripp Live in Christchurch. They went on to play Centre Stage, The Joiners, The Green Room (Portman) and O'Neills. Dave Lovell joined the band on bass in September 2007 and added a fresh new influence to the bands music.
Dave left in June 2008 to travel the world and the band took a break for the summer. During that time they met Mike Walker who joined the band on bass guitar until March 09 when he left due to work commitments. The band looked for a new member and found Steve Chapman who joined in July 09 to complete the line up once more.
The group has had radio airplay on Off the Chart, Cable Radio Milton Keynes, BBC Radio Solent, Forest FM and HopeFM and have been featured twice by Unsigned Chart - www.unsignedchart.com.
Bringing their own unique sound to radio the group was featured in Radio Solents' "South Live" Demo Panel, to positive reviews. Peachy Jane have also been featured as Forest FM's Breakthrough Artist of the Month for April 2008. The band did a live radio session and received daily airplay on the station for that month. Forest FM also hosted a headline gig for the band.
Peachy Jane's sound has been compared to David Byrne and Neil Young and Siouxie and the Banshees; however, the band's music encompasses an eclectic range of styles from reggae to jazz with a rock twist. A comment from one of the demo panel was, "There's definitely something going on there..."
"Kicking off with one of their best numbers, Dragon Dreams, the rhythm section showed themselves to be a tight unit - and lyricist Beca's strident guitar soared across the driving beat."
- Alan Dorey, Musical Bus (Sep 01, 2008)
"I like music that takes me by my lapels and grabs my attention. The EP Live At Active from Peachy Jane does just that. Dragon Dreams is a great opener, shakes out a stupor and makes its mark."
- Tim Heywood, Hope FM (Aug 27, 2008)
"Although ultimately a hard rock band, Peachy Jane's sound also includes slight reggae undertones, immediately and sub-consciously putting the audience at ease and making them feel laid back and ready to enjoy the music."
- Tamlyn Head, Unsigned Chart (May 03, 2009)
