Matt Bentley
Matt Bentley began playing guitar about 14 years ago, and from the start enjoyed writing songs and singing. After having played in a band for a few years, his friends convinced him to try out his solo act on a live audience at a singer-songwriter contest in Durham. Winning first place in that with his debut solo performance, he's never looked back.
Having played countless gigs in his home town of Colne, including the headlining at one of the venues for a well know national Blues Festival, he moved to Leeds just under two years ago, and has fast become a stalwart of the acoustic scene there. Recently having taken stewardship af a prestigeous regular Leeds acoustic night, Matt Bentley performs all over the North West, has a UK tour in the pipe- line, and is travelling to America in October this year to tour the New York open mic nights.
As well as playing gigs, he also records prolifically. He released his first album in 2006 in limited numbers. At the start of 2008 he recorded his second, but issues with mixing and mastering meant that this was still not ready for release when, earlier this year, he began recording his third album. With this nearing completion, the second album ready for launch, a first album re-issue planned and an EP also poised for release, the next few months are promising to be a very busy time indeed.
