British Standard
British standard are a 4 piece rock n roll band from Essex. Playing
their self acclaimed vintage tones to try and bring back a bit of
50s-60s sounds mixed in with some new tones and influences such as Led
Zeppelin, The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Stereophonics and The Verve.
The band formed in May 2007 and have played sold out venues including
the 100 Club, Dirty South, Bull and Gate, Fiddlers Elbow, Club
Quatroz, The Twist, Kelvedon Festival, Seabrights festival, The
Fleece, Anglian Ruskin Uni, Essex Uni, MayFair Festival and tons more!!!
After the recording of the first demo entitled ‘Scoundrel EP’ which
they done at Purple Studios in Norwich they proceeded to promote and
sell the CD’s at all gigs and managed to get it into local Virgin
Megastore and HMV shops. While promoting this CD they also received a
number of reviews from magazines like Noisey, The Fuse and Local
Gazette as well as air play time on radio stations like BBC Essex,
Dream 100, Essex Uni stations and a number of internet sites.
They have now recorded a follow-up demo containing 5 new tracks
entitles ‘Leave her in a Heartbeat’, ‘A City Sham’, ‘Traffic Lights’,
‘This has been done before’ and ‘Magazine nothing’. These are
currently available on Myspace.com/britishstandard and at all gigs.
They have also recently released 2 music video’s which are available
on youtube.com and their websites. These include a collection of live
performances and a studio produced video.
